Our Practice Area
Land Acquisition & Land Law
Description
Our Land Acquisition & Land Law practice area is distinguished by a deep familiarity with the complexities of compulsory land acquisition and the protection of landownership against fraud. We represent landowners and developers in high-stakes land acquisition and land reference proceedings, involving complex issues of law on injurious affection and determination of market value. We frequently represent our clients at the High Court to contest and secure fair compensation awards, working in close coordination with valuers and assessors to ensure these are calculated through the rigorous application of correct legal and valuation principles.
In addition to acquisition matters, our lawyers are well-positioned to handle complex land fraud cases involving forgery, fraudulent transfers and land title disputes. Our practice encompasses the full spectrum of the National Land Code and the Land Acquisition Act, 1960, including issues of Indefeasibility of Title and the restoration of alienated land. We also frequently handle intricate strata management conflicts and advise on the rights and liabilities of developers, Management Bodies (JMB/MC), and proprietors. We work closely with land offices and regulatory authorities to ensure every matter is handled with precision and in our clients’ best interests.
