Cliff Tan Ze Yin

Cliff Tan Ze Yin is an Associate at Cheah Teh Su. He was admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 2024 and practises in the firm's Dispute Resolution Department, where he assists in a range of civil disputes.

Cliff’s practice focuses on commercial litigation, shareholder disputes, banking litigation, probate matters, and enforcement of judgment matters. He regularly assists in complex litigation before the High Court and the Court of Appeal.

He has been involved in a broad range of civil and commercial disputes involving contractual claims, corporate governance issues, contempt proceedings, defamation, enforcement of judgments, and interlocutory applications.

Some of the notable matters Cliff has been involved in are as follows:

• Assisted in obtaining summary judgment in a breach of contract claim involving RM16 million.
• Assisted the team acting for the successful defendants in resisting contempt proceedings before the High Court.
• Assisted in defending an investment bank in a High Court claim for breach of trust and negligence, including opposing the plaintiff’s discovery application at the pre-trial stage.
• Assisted in successfully resisting applications for a stay of execution before both the High Court and the Court of Appeal.

Cliff is fluent in English, Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia, Cantonese, and Hokkien.
